JTC's FAQ
WELCOME TO OUR FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS PAGE!
Here we try and answer the questions we receive a lot.
There are a lot of reasons one can find to justify Cerakote. Keep in mind that it is purely based on facts, but is still very opinionated. We have written more in-depth about this subject on our blog.
HECK YA!! Sorry, get excited sometimes…
The world is your oyster when it comes to Cerakote. From auto motive to tumblers to bikes and even shoes… yes, I said shoes… there is almost nothing that can’t be coated. Really, we are only limited to our blast cabinet and the desired look. There are some items that can only be done with Cerakote air cure (“C” - Series). And some materials, such as rubber, that may cause an issue with sustained protection. We have writing a blog about the “Considerations of What You Can Cerakote”.
That depends. Are you going to take sandpaper or a metal punch to it? Cerakote is durable enough to hold up against most anything you throw at it. If applied correctly, you can rest assured it will hold up through tough hunting seasons and even through tactical training.
However, even Cerakote can’t take the punishment of metal hitting metal repeatably for years without some damage. Normally this occurs after a very large sum of casings hitting the deflector as they are ejected from the AR Platform weapon. If you begin to notice markings on said deflector every time you shoot, we suggest looking at the ammo you are using and/or the gas block on the weapon itself.
As you send those beautiful rounds down range, the brass casing itself should eject directly to the side at about 90 degrees from the weapon. This is a good balance of powder grain and gas blow back. We have had several barrels come into the shop that ejected the casings at 45 degrees. This generally means there isn’t enough power moving the BCG back with enough force to drive the casing out properly. More on this topic can be found Here.
This is an opinionated question, and our opinion is simple… Yes. Out of all the guns you own, it’s a safe bet to say that your EDC is going to get the most abuse out of the whole lot. Most don’t realize the damage that can come to the tool that is there to protect you and your family. We have written a more in-depth blog about the subject which you can find HERE.
Honestly not mush. Normal performance maintenance should be conducted regularly to keep your weapon in functional shape. However, there won’t be a need to worry about rust and other corrosions that may damage your firearm as it sits waiting for your next range or hunting weekend.
Lead times will vary depending on the time of year and the complexity of the projects in house. We aim to get all projects back home to their loved ones within two weeks. However, a timeframe will be given at the time the project conformation email is sent.
Yes. Once your project is in our shop, we send a notification through your preferred contact. Once everything has been evaluated to ensure that no extra parts were sent, unknown disassembly is required, and any last-minute design changes have been added.
We will then send pictures for approval. Once the project is approved, we complete the post coating process and send the invoice.
Yes and no.
You can change your mind about you design at any point prior to coating. We will send you a final quote once we have your project and all parts are ready for the precoating phase. After that though, we can change the design as long as the project hasn’t been coated yet. There are times when we can coat two projects at the same time because they are the same colors and/or design. If that becomes the case, we can complete a project ahead of schedule. We do not notify you when we are starting your project because it is a case by case process that would be slowed down attempting to contact each project owner.
We have seen some pretty wild stuff and have come up with quite a few of our own. You are only limited by your imagination, the applicators skill and your budget.
There does exist a few issues. First, there are designs that are simply out of our ability due to time and curing.
If you are looking for Trademarked perfect matches you will have to find a shop that Hydrodips. We know a few that put out great quality items. However, you will sacrifice the protection you get from a coating. Mostly because a hydrodipped skin offers no real protection.
Well, you have a few choices. First is cash but that tends to be a meet and pick up exchange cash kinda thing. If you’re not local that can be a small pain in the badonkadonk.
Second and most preferred by our customers not local is through credit/ debit card. This option is sent directly to your email and can be handled in your time.
Third is by check or money order.
Once you have approved the work and payed for the items coated. If this it is a cash and pick up, it will be at our and your schedulable convenience.
If it is by Credit/debit, it will be in the mail as soon as payment has been processed.
If by check or money order, it will be in the mail as soon as the money has been deposited in our Financial Institution.
***PLEAE NOTE…Any Returned Check Fees WILL Be Charged To The CUSTOMER Before Project Is Returned***
Yes.
For items deemed not a firearm, ie: weapon parts, tumblers, auto related, etc…, USPS is the preferred method. We ship them in Priority packages that provide an insurance and tracking number that will be given directly to the customer through either text or email; whichever the customer prefers.
For complete firearms, the items will be returned through and in the same way they were delivered, unless the customer wishes it different. This means, the delivery company, amount of insurance, and any specific time of delivery; such as Two-day or overnight.
The customer has the right to change their design at any time. HOWEVER, dong so after the project is complete and ready to ship will cause delays in the project completion. Their will also be a fee associated with the change due to the customers request that the process start again from the beginning. The project will be prepped and coated to the customer’s new design.
The fee will be the cost of the new design colors, stencil, and anything else specific to the new design.
No work will be done until the customer has a new project quote sheet with the customers acknowledgement.
Absolutely! It can be a very rewarding experience. As a matter of fact, that is how we started this fine establishment in the first place.
Quite a lot of videos exist on YouTube to help in this endeavor. There are also a lot of blogs out there as well.
We only suggest that you take time and care during the prep phase so that your masterpiece comes out looking the way you want it to.
